Computer Lab

We would like one or two volunteers to help in the computer labs from 8:45 to 10:45 every Thursday and Friday. We will have 1st and 2nd grade doing STAR reading tests and EDUSS tutorials. The volunteers will assist the students in logging in and basic keyboard skills. This would be an ongoing assignment where they could also assist with the library and reading to the classes.

Thanks, the Library Staff

to volunteer in the computer lab, please contact our Librarian, at this link: Sheri Roberts

*PARENTS* Unfortunately Excelsior families will be unable to use the recycle bins at the academy. The school is filling the two bins and will need all of the room. If you have any questions, you may contact the Recycling Coordinator, listed under "Contact Us". Thank you!

Volunteers Needed

Opportunities to help from home:
-We are getting ready for our 1st Annual Art Contest, Inspirations! The sponsors and participants are from other charter schools in Utah. There will be a school, regional, and state level for our kids to compete in. If you would like to help organize the school level competition, we will be meeting Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7pm in the Academy Library.

-We are planning social activities for parents and families to get to know each other better. If you would like to help plan these, please reply to the Committee Chair at this link Julie Ward

Opportunities to help in the school-Background check required!
-Kindergarten and 1st grade are needing help on a regular basis. Mrs. Pietrzak needs help from around 9:45 to 11:00 daily and the Kindergarten teachers could use help from 9:55-10:40 and then again from 2:10 to 2:55. To volunteer, reply to these links

-The Tooele County Bookmobile will visit Excelsior Academy every other Tuesday starting on October 8th. John Ingersol, the Bookmobile librarian, has asked for volunteers to assist him in checking out books for the students. The visit will be from 9:00 AM to 2:45 PM with a lunch break from 12:00 to 12:30. To help with this, reply to this link

-We still need parents willing to substitute supervising lunch recess, or serving lunch.

*Any volunteer coming into the Academy, needs to have received Volunteer Clearance first. To get Volunteer Clearance, you need to pass a background check and read the Volunteer Handbook. Background check applications and the $10 accompanying fee need to be turned into the front office. You will be notified when your background check is complete. The Volunteer Handbook is also available at the front office. Once you have received Volunteer Clearance, your student's teachers will be notified that you are now eligible to help in their classrooms. Thank you!
